Information Security – Designing and Implementing Policies from the perspective of a system's auditor

Compliance with applicable legislation and regulations has become a key factor in systems'auditing due to its significant increase in the past ten years.  More so, the courts have stressed the importance for the organization to communicate to its employees and collaborators where it stands on compliance issues by means of policies and procedures.

 Thus, the information system's auditor, should focus on assessing the policies in place following standards, best practices and criteria.

  The speaker will provide a model procedure for Policy Content, Adoption, and dissemination, as well as a minimal checklist covering the basic compliance issues related to Information Security.

Lic. Cintrón has been in charge of  the Administrative Computing Center and responsible for:  Implementation of IT Strategic Planning, Integration of Academic and Administrative services under  a new Center for Information Resources, Development of WEB services for students and faculty in academic advising, online attendance, registration, service requests and other modules, Wireless Hot-Spot deployment and centralized access to services based upon single authentication system, as well as,  implementing security measures and policies for using information technology and network resources.  She has also collaborated in the development of new academic offering in Information Systems Auditing and Information Technologies.
