                                                            ISO 17799 – A Security Framework

ISO 17799 is a comprehensive set of controls comprising best practices in information security. It is intended to serve as a single reference point for identifying a range of controls needed for most situations where Information Systems are used in industry and commerce. Its objectives are to provide a common basis for Information Security Management in organizations and to provide confidence in inter-organizational trading. ISO 17799 has become the de facto standard for defining (at a high level) an information security program/architecture.
